How do I clean my release?
The easiest way to clean your Carter release is to used an air hose, positioned at each of the openings next to the trigger, cocking lever and jaw to help blow out any dust or sediment which may have worked its way into your release. No lubrication is necessary, with the exception of the Solution 2.5 models. See "How do I lubricate my Solution 2.5?" below. If you feel lubrication would be helpful, we recommend WD-40, but discourage the use of lubrication oils which may cause build-up and collect dirt, as opposed to WD-40 which dries without the build-up of residue. WD-40 is also helpful when using your release in a wet or humid environment. No other lubrication is necessary.

How do I lubricate my Solution 2.5?
Occasionally the ball bearing located in the moon near the jaw of the release may not spring back into position. When this happens, a small drop of WD-40 applied directly to the ball bearing should help the ball bearing continue to perform as intended.

What is the factory standard spring for Carter releases?
That depends on the model in question. Most thumb trigger activated models come standard with a 43# spring in the trigger and wrist strap models come standard with a "light" spring, although the particular poundage used may vary from one wrist strap model to another.

Are heavier/lighter springs available for my release?
Yes, depending on the release model. A variety of springs are available to help increase or decrease the amount of tension in the trigger for most Carter release aids. The cost is $2.00 per spring plus shipping and springs may be ordered directly from our facility. Spring changes are also available from Carter Enterprises. For more information on how to send your release in for a spring change, visit our Warranty and Repair page located in the "Support" section of our web site.

Can I change the springs myself?
You can, but keep in mind that doing so will void the one-year warranty automatically included with the purchase of each Carter release aid. Moreover, opening the release can be a real adventure, since there are springs which will tend to launch themselves if you are not careful. Furthermore, due to the delicate tolerances between parts, attempts to take apart a release by someone other than a Carter-authorized factory representative could result in further complications with the release and render it unsafe for future use. If you want to be sure it is done right, send it to us. Visit our warranty and repair information page for more information on sending your release in for a spring change.

Can I shoot it off a D-loop?
Every Carter release in our current line-up has been made to be D-loop friendly. The only exception would be the LokJaw 2000 with the wide jaw. The wide jaw is intended for use directly off the serving, whereas the LokJaw 2000 with the narrow jaw is intended for use with either a rope tied to the release or a D-loop.

Do you have any shooter programs?
Carter actually offers two shooter programs. The first is known as the Staff Shooter program and is available for serious archers who already enjoy sponsorship through a major bow manufacturer. To apply for this program, the archer needs to complete all areas of the Staff Shooter application and attach a current archery resume. Eligibility and approval is determined by our Staff Shooter Coordinators, contingent on the application materials received for each archer. This is an annual program, beginning November 1st and ending October 31st of the following year.

The second program is known as the Co-op Shooter program and is handled through your local archery shop. To apply, the dealer must request and complete the required Co-op Shooter application. Each dealer is allowed one co-op shooter per year, beginning November 1st and ending October 31st of the following year. For more information on either of our shooter programs, or to request an application, contact us directly at contact@carterenterprises.com.

Do you sell extra wrist straps for your hunting releases?
Wrist straps can be purchased directly from our facility for $15.00 each plus shipping. When ordering, remember to specify the model for which the wrist strap will be used. Please note, the One Shot may use one of two different wrist strap styles depending on whether the head of the release has a slot or three holes for attachment. Please indicate which type of One Shot head you have when ordering for this particular model.

Does Carter have any decals, stickers, or patches?
Currently we have free patches available, carrying the Carter Logo, in either black and red or in red, white, and blue.

Can I get a catalog?
Certainly. Either e-mail us at contact@carterenterprises.com or call us direct at (208) 624-3467 to request your free catalog.

Can I pick the color of my release when I order?
Yes, you are certainly welcome to state a color preference. However, color selection is limited to stock on hand and colors change frequently. Carter may substitute colors at their discretion, as necessary.

Does the Adjusto Trigger come standard on all Carter releases?
The Adjusto Trigger (that silver, drum-shaped piece bolted to the trigger) comes standard on all thumb trigger models with the exception of the Solution 3, which instead features two Friction Enhancers (narrower in diameter than the Adjusto Trigger). All other back tension models also come standard with the Friction Enhancer. Additional Adjusto Triggers and Friction Enhancers -- as well as Carter's Thumb Shoes and Palm Shoes -- are also available for sale.

What type of release rope should I be using on my release?
Carter recommends using Fast Flight for D-loops or tied directly to the release for improved performance and to help avoid potential problems such as hang firing and pre firing. Most releases come from the factory with a piece of Fast Flight tied to the release or included somewhere in the packaging. Additional Fast Flight is available from our facility at $1.00 per foot, plus shipping.
